HCC ENC 1101
This site was conceived for students enrolled in Prof. Ed Coursey's ENC 1101 composition sections at the Dale Mabry Campus of Hillsborough Community College. The course emphasizes academic or formal writing (not creative writing), with specific attention to grammar, mechanics, punctuation, and content.
This site provides a repository for enrolled students who want to share their essays with their classmates, and others. All work presented here is to be original and prepared especially for this course; no re-cycled high school work, please. The work presented here is also expected to be appropriately reviewed, proofed, and edited, ready for submission for a grade, for example; the work should reflect a high degree of quality in grammar, mechanics, punctuation, and content.
Because many students have really interesting and challenging points of view expressed in their writings, this is the vehicle for those students to present their views to their classmates and other readers of this site.
Prof. Coursey requires that all posts and comments follow the rules of correct English grammar; all content from secondary sources must be documented following the MLA Documentation and Format style guidelines. However, the submissions are all voluntarily submitted, and there is no grade for the course associated with any submission.
Readers of the site are extended the opportunity to comment on the submissions. There is this caveat, though, that this site does not accept Anonymous or unsigned posts, and Prof. Coursey reserves the right to delete any Anonymous or unsigned posts or comments. Prof. Coursey also reserves the right to delete any inappropriate posts or comments and any idle texting, chatting, or posting. This site collects no information about any contributor. This site has no sponsors nor does it nor will it ever host paid advertisements. Any links to secondary sources are provided for the presumed benefit of the students who use this site and to visitors to this site.

Welcome
Those of you who are enrolled in one of the HCC ENC 1101 sections are welcome to comment: ask questions about the course, assignments, readings, and the like. I am the instructor for the course, and I will frequently drop in and see whether anyone has posted anything and then respond as necessary.
